Back to School

Monday was the first day of school and I really intended to get a picture of Shelby. She was wearing a pink Hannah Montana shirt and denim shorts - just perfect for 1st grade. :) We were in a hurry to get out the door, so I forgot. (I was really focused on making sure I got food to eat for breakfast.)

So Tuesday (happy b-day Jenn) was going to be the picture day. Both girls had dresses on, so it would have been really cute. However, Sydney wanted some medicine on her bug bite, so we went upstairs to appy that. In the process of going down stairs Shelby said she was heading to the car and Sydney yelled out "Wait for me!" She then promptly missed the next step and fell head first down half a flight of stairs. I watched in horror as her feet went over her head and she landed on her back. I thought she had broken her neck!! She was scared, but completely intact. I think it took me longer to stop crying than it did for her to stop. She was even wiping the tears off of my face. So - no picture for Tuesday, but lots of prayers of thankfulness all day long.

This morning I was so tired, I forgot to even try to get a photo and after school I had promised to take the girls to the pool for a little swim before the outside pool closed for the summer.

Maybe tomorrow I'll get that picture! However, school is going very well. Shelby loves her teacher and I can't be happier about that. Yesterday her "favorite thing about the day" was that Miss. C was her teacher and today's "one thing you want to do tomorrow" was have Miss C as her teacher. We have curriculum night in a couple of weeks, so I'll be looking forward to seeing the classroom and things for the coming year.
My start to school has been good too. My schedule is nice and the kids are excited. I would like to have a few more flute players, but I'll just do the best with what I've got. My 14 week doctors apptment last week went well. Blood pressure was 103 over 60 and the baby has grown alot since the 9 week appointment. It's not for certain, but we think this baby is going to be a boy. Boy parts seemed to be evident in the sonogram. We'll do another at the next appointment and will know for sure then. If it really is a boy, I'm having a huge garage sale. I've got all of the girls clothes in buckets in the attic and I'm going to clear out everything. Whatever doesn't sell is going to be donated to goodwill for the tax write off. :) Of course, that means I'll also get to do some shopping for baby clothes. I tried not to do much with Syd, so this could be fun!

Food

Do you remember that time when you could eat anything you wanted and never seemed to gain a single pound? That's how I feel. I started my 2nd trimester this week and I've only gained a half of a pound since I found out I was expecting. The only thing is that I'm always hungry. If I don't eat something within 4 hours of my last meal I can't concentrate on anything else. I'm going to have to buy a bunch of snacks for my office, just so I can make it through the day. My problem is that I crave meat. Chicken, pork, turkey, but not beef. It's such a strange thing. I'm guessing that my iron levels are low since my body screams for the stuff. My next doctor's appointment is on Friday and I'm sure they will do a blood test to check. It's just odd.

The belly is starting to grow. For the most part you can't really tell yet (since I've always got clothes on) but my night gown is going to be traded in soon for a very large T shirt. Thank goodness I've got some of those. :)

I'm back to work and having a hard time getting up at 5:30. I've got to adjust to 5:15 by next Monday and I'm not sure I can make it. I didn't go to bed until 10:30 last night and really didn't want to get up today. We got 2 hours for lunch today and I spent 45 minutes of that taking a nap in my office. (On my blanket on the floor!) I did feel better after that and got several more things done. I just don't think I can do that once the kids come back. :)

The First Day

Today was Sydney's first day at the new daycare. She was really excited, but also nervous. When I dropped her off, she wasn't too sure about me leaving until her teacher asked her if she wanted to play. Sydney didn't even say goodbye to me, she just turned and ran off in front of her teacher. I had rehearsal until 7 in the evening (no school hasn't started yet) so daddy did pick up and she was really happy to see him. She seemed to have lots of fun and was very happy about her day. She couldn't give me a "favorite thing" of the day, but said she had fun. Her only negative comment was about lunch - "Momma. It was scary, I don't like that food!" I think it was a bean burrito and I don't blame her. I'm not a bean fan either. Below is the picture before we left this morning.

The new daycare

Last night we visited Sydney's new daycare. I think she's really going to like it. My only concern is her eating lunch. The lunch example they gave us was "bean burrito" and I don't see my picky eater enjoying that. However, she will learn to eat new things or go without lunch. Good thing I won't be there to see that fight :) She will start next Monday. The good news is that our little surprise will have a spot there too. We met the infant 1 teacher and she is really nice. I had a great vibe from her, so I think our little one will be loved just like the other girls were.

I'm excited about the kids going there. It was really hard to consider the change from our in home place, since I just loved her, but the hours are better for me.

Just for a laugh

I saw this earlier today and it made me laugh so hard! There is a little bit of language, but it's worth it. Enjoy!
